“Creating web-mapping applications with QGIS Server and QWC2”
2019-08-26, 09:00–13:00, Room 5
QGIS Server has become a serious competitor in the realm of map engines for the web. Maps served by
QGIS Server are designed in QGIS Desktop, and rendered by QGIS Server with the same rendering engine as QGIS Desktop. This makes it possible to leverage QGIS advanced styling capabilities, which, in itself, is a major advantage over its competitors.
A number of JavaScript applications, frameworks and SaaS solutions exist for QGIS Server. QGIS Web Client 2 (QWC2), LizMap, GW3 Suite, GIS Quick are examples. QWC2 provides both an off-the-shelf web application and a development framework. QWC2 thus makes for a very flexible tool; you can start simple and easy with the demo application, and then customize your application at will, based on your needs and development capabilities.
In this workshop you will learn how to set up QGIS Server, create a QWC2 application, and the different levels of customization that you can apply for web-mapping applications that suit your needs and taste.
